Supertext at MIIS Career Fair

Supertext meets the future of the language industry

Supertext sponsored the 2019 MIIS Career Fair to meet the next generation of localization professionals. And spread the word about its mission.

Second to none

Supertext didn’t give a second thought to attending the MIIS Career Fair for a second year in a row. After a year of working with the super linguists we met at the 2018 career fair, we were excited to get to know a new generation of localization professionals. Our experience did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of connecting with exceptional translators and localization management students at our booth, alongside other industry leaders like eBay and the CIA.

Masters in Monterey

Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS) offers one of the top localization programs in the world, with graduates going on to lead loc teams in Silicon Valley and interpret for the white house. Students hail to this picturesque seaside city on California’s central coast from all over the Americas, Europe, and Asia, which is why MIIS is also a great resource for LSPs looking for linguists from diverse backgrounds. Just this year, its master’s degree in Translation and Localization Management (TLM) was reclassified as a STEM degree. This points to the ever-evolving localization industry’s need for tech-savvy professionals who are familiar with various TMS and CMS platforms and programming languages.

Super linguists seek out Supertext

While in Monterey, we were able to catch up with former Supertext intern, Nika Allahverdi, who is finishing her TLM degree this spring. She believes that MIIS is preparing students for what lies ahead.

“The education at the institute is unique in its highly specific focus on the translation and localization industry. For me, the MIIS Career Fair is an opportunity to network and build meaningful relationships. It’s good to see how we are all united by the goal to promote international communication and localization.”

We were delighted to see a few other familiar faces, many of whom put in a good word for us to their friends and colleagues. Many MIIS students are drawn to our mission to free the world from bad copy, and how our copywriting roots and focus on transcreation set us apart from other LSPs. And our freelancers agree that Supertext offers stimulating projects and cherish the open communication they have with our team. We look forward to furthering our partnership with MIIS and working with graduates to create copy that is a pleasure to read, in 100+ languages.
