Translation on demand: how clients are benefiting from our InstantTranslation service

Supertext’s InstantTranslation service has been available to clients since January 2021. But when do they opt for instant translation and why? How useful is it in their day-to-day work? Two satisfied users give their thoughts.

InstantTranslation is Supertext’s instant translation service for small, highly urgent jobs. It’s a chat-based solution that connects clients directly with linguists, delivering professional translation quality at machine translation speed. You can find out exactly how the in-house technology works here.

Supertext clients have been using InstantTranslation for 10 months now. We talked to them about their experiences with the service so far.

“Posts can go live in just a few minutes – with guaranteed high quality.”

What the client does: Hostpoint is Switzerland’s largest web hosting service and domain name registrar. The internet giant manages over 800,000 domain names for customers big and small, and achieved a turnover of CHF 24 million in 2020. Hostpoint is active across multiple channels in German, English, French and Italian.

When they use InstantTranslation: several times a week for short, urgent copy like social media posts, notifications and alerts, as well as ad and banner copy. Occasionally, Hostpoint also uses the service for longer texts, e.g. internal notices or changes to press releases, which are broken down into smaller sections. In other words, the team uses InstantTranslation whenever they need a professional translation and are under time pressure. Machine translation services like DeepL can sometimes be useful in these cases, but the quality is not always high enough for the client, as context and corporate wording aren’t taken into account.

Example: Hostpoint’s social media posts often contain technical terms and keywords. The InstantTranslation service automatically incorporates the client’s terminology database, meaning defined terms can be taken from the glossary and translated consistently. Hostpoint can also inform the translator of additional requirements like character limits using the live chat.

Previous solution: Hostpoint used to collect short texts together and then send them as a standard translation job – and simply had to deal with tight deadlines as best they could.

New solution: Hostpoint’s Head of Communication Mauro Landolt and his team have been using InstantTranslation since it launched in January. Landolt is a convert to the service:

“Machine translation engines like Google Translate and DeepL are getting better all the time, but they still don’t reach the same standard as a human translation when it comes to important texts – especially if something needs to be reformulated. InstantTranslation is a real godsend. It guarantees high-quality translations within minutes.”

“We can publish updates in four languages, with zero fuss.”

What the client does: Swiss Casinos is the largest casino group in Switzerland. It runs four brick-and-mortar casinos and, as of 2019, an online casino. All of the group’s online and offline communications are published in four languages: German, English, French and Italian.

When they use InstantTranslation: for online copy communicating the latest updates, i.e. when the group needs to translate and publish information that applies immediately, so that stakeholders receive the news first-hand.

Example: in the context of COVID-19, there have been numerous urgent updates in recent months that needed to reach casino guests immediately in all four languages. These included changes to opening times and hygiene measures.

Previous solution: before the arrival of InstantTranslation, Swiss Casinos used to turn to multilingual employees, or order a translation from Supertext and make do with an express deadline.

New solution: marketing expert and copywriter Anna Montanato and her team at Swiss Casinos have been using InstantTranslation since March. For them, it’s a swift and effective solution when turnarounds are tight:

“When we heard about the InstantTranslation service we were immediately intrigued, because our day-to-day work often involves urgent alterations to texts. InstantTranslation delivers no-fuss, high-quality translations we know we can rely on thanks to the professional linguists involved.”
